Probe begins into ‘illegal elephant transfers’ from northeast States to Kerala

Wildlife Crime Control Bureau asks Forest depts of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, and Tripura to provide information on registered captive elephants and the number of transit permits issued for moving them within and outside the State. Inquiry will examine claims of a criminal nexus involving elephant procurement agents
