India as a sovereign democratic republic completed 75 years of its eventful journey on Sunday (January 26, 2025), with the stage set at the Kartavya Path in the national capital and celebration across the country and world. The national flag was unfurled on 76th Republic Day followed by the National Anthem with a booming 21-gun salute.
President Droupadi Murmu led the nation in celebrating the momentous occasion with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto as the chief guest.
Before attending the Republic Day celebrations at Kartavya Path, the Prime Minister paid his respects to the fallen soldiers by observing a two-minute silence, honouring the supreme sacrifices of armed personnel who have protected the nation.
