Prohibition in Tamil Nadu’s political discourse gets featured prominently after a gap of 10 years

For over a year ahead of the 2016 Assembly poll, the then DMK chief, M. Karunanidhi, held responsible by his critics, sections of historians for having lifted the prohibition in 1971 and “made familiar the habit” of drinking to people, in July 2015 committed himself to taking “intensive measures” for implementing prohibition in the State, if elected to power
