In Union Budget 2025-26, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman proposes a light-touch regulatory framework to ensure productivity and employment, a High Level Committee for Regulatory Reforms to review all non-financial sector regulations, certifications, licenses, and permissions, and an Investment Friendliness Index of States. To decriminalise more than 100 provisions in various laws, she said that she would table Jan Vishwas Bill 2.0 in Parliament shortly.
